If you find something hard, or are afraid, or really don’t want to do something. The best thing to do is always do it anyway. Bite the bullet, face the fear.
Even with something as small as blogging. I haven’t blogged much recently, I just haven’t felt like it. But I always find, just by opening up a new post, I can just let it flow. Though it may not be interesting, or always make sense; making myself do it makes it easier.
A lot of things are hard to do, especially of they aren’t done regularly. Like getting a rusty cog going again, its gonna take some effort.
Sometimes we stop doing things for a while as we can’t face it for a while after stumbling over a hurdle. For example if you’re scared of heights and you just fell from a tree, it may take you a while to try again. And when you go back to that tree, its gonna be a million times harder to get up it, the fear will get worse and worse. But if you make it up there, it’s going to get better, you will feel great and are just a smidgen closer to eradicating that fear.
Maybe sometimes we need some help to get there; a friend texting you during the progress, holding your hand, coaxing you through. Even the sound of a good song can help you through it.
The crux of the matter is, facing our fears makes us better and stronger people in the end. It may not seem much like it if some of your days are just a haze of fear, but unless you face it, it never goes.
I guess all I am trying to say, is that I think that we should all try to do something hard everyday. Challenge yourself, push yourself. Fair enough if one day it is too hard for you to do it, but as soon as you feel human enough, push yourself. Everyday.
